These are a couple poster ideas I’ve been playing with and working on.  The first set is technical drawing inspired. I’ve always enjoyed technical line drawing of plants even though I’d never be any good drawing them, but they’re fun to design with. The second set is Disney and font inspired. Sometimes half the battle is finding the right font to use and other times you don’t know what you are going to design until you see they type face.

I have thought about making a new etsy store selling only posters. Obviously I would need to make more designs, which means I need to find the time to sit down and come up with more ideas. Inspirations doesn’t always come easy. I wouldn’t know what to call the store, I don’t think I would want to keep Meg’s Charm. Let me know what you guys think!

Suffocation wallpaper

This is the current mood I’m having about my life right now. I was going for the minimal and motivational wallpapers that I’ve been seeing around everywhere. I made one for my desktop that says “stay motivated.”  I’m not sure if its working.

These have been my favorite colors for the past 6+ months. I especially love the blues! The orange is only secondary, and it helps the blue pop!  You can tell that I really dig these colors just by looking at the colors on my blog. I was thinking of making one or two of [...]]]>

These have been my favorite colors for the past 6+ months. I especially love the blues! The orange is only secondary, and it helps the blue pop!  You can tell that I really dig these colors just by looking at the colors on my blog. I was thinking of making one or two of the wall in my office the middle color blue and then accent it with orange with in the room. It would make the room more attractive and fun.

For color inspiration I go to kuler, thank you graphic design teacher. Its a simple way to get colors together to see what they would look like. They also have users putting together pallets for others to see.  I prefer this website over other color pallettes sites because it gives you a lot of customizing options when others don’t. Its  interesting that the first two highest rated pallettes are quite similar to each other. I wonder what that says about us and what colors we like.

I worked on this wall paper a couple weeks ago, and I’ve had the idea for quite a while. It’s based off the game Minecraft and an item in the game is a cake that you can craft and gives you health.  I pretty much like it the way it is now, but I’ve also played around with idea of instead of the “war” it would be the TNT block from the game.

Feel free to use this as your wallpaper, but please don’t steal it and make it your own.

Then I graduated. All of my family and some friends came up to see the ceremony. The ceremony its self was a bit long, but the key note speaker was pretty good. Even though it was on the morning the weather felt really hot! See more photos HERE!

Last but not least is Fanime. I didn’t take as many photos as I normally do, probably because I just wanted to enjoy the con. There were plenty of really good cosplayers. Tim got his wall scroll and I got m  BAAU Down book making us quite happy! Check out just a tad more photos HERE.

Tonight I was messing around with photoshop and illustrator and I thought I’d share what I was up to. Above is the final result of tonight and I’m quite pleased with it. I’ve never done any illustrations like this, I always try to make the images look too realistic when working from a photo. [...]]]>

Tonight I was messing around with photoshop and illustrator and I thought I’d share what I was up to. Above is the final result of tonight and I’m quite pleased with it. I’ve never done any illustrations like this, I always try to make the images look too realistic when working from a photo. Maybe this was easier because I was working with a photo of my self. The closest I got to the flat illustration look it this.

Here’s the progression of experiments that I worked on tonight:

Original photo: heavily rotated and a bit cropped (mostly on the sides)

Version 1: messing around with cropping and filters in photoshop. The main things I wanted for this image was to get the color in the scarf to come out, get the green in my eyes to pop and the color of my glasses to be more prominent.

Version 2: About the same as above but in black with a background color, still experimenting. Tim called this on a Andy Warhol Megan. It’s interesting, but I wasn’t content with it.

New cropped photo: it’s still from the original photo, but it has been edited a bit more. I like the highly saturated and contrasting look to this photo. I changed to crop because I felt like the scarf was working in the illustrations and I liked emphasizing the curls on the left.

Version 3: The more I look at this version, the more I like it. Out of all the photoshop experiments I like this on the best. I made the previous photo black and white; messed with the dodging and burning to get the hair the way I want it; and messed with filters.

Now you know what I do with my “college Friday night” a but dorky, I know. But once I get a streak of inspiration to do something I need to use it as much as I can, you never know when another will come your way. I love the result I got tonight (first image)! I find it interesting that I worked with photos of myself and not someone else. I’m such a narcissist!
