These are a couple poster ideas I’ve been playing with and working on. The first set is technical drawing inspired. I’ve always enjoyed technical line drawing of plants even though I’d never be any good drawing them, but they’re fun to design with. The second set is Disney and font inspired. Sometimes half the battle is finding the right font to use and other times you don’t know what you are going to design until you see they type face.

I have thought about making a new etsy store selling only posters. Obviously I would need to make more designs, which means I need to find the time to sit down and come up with more ideas. Inspirations doesn’t always come easy. I wouldn’t know what to call the store, I don’t think I would want to keep Meg’s Charm. Let me know what you guys think!

New Design Books

With Borders closing very soon I decided that I should get my butt down there and see what design books they had left. I was in denial for quite a while, I didn’t want the one and only book store in town to close down. I hate seeing business which bring culture to the community leave. Hopefully another book store company will pick them up.

Anyways back to my point, books! I wanted to share with you which books got at a good buy. I was surprised how many design books there were left. So far I’m really enjoying Breaking into Freelance Illustration it is easy relate to (even though its not a work of fiction) and has a lot of helpful information.

A while ago in March I took some pictures by my house behind the old Real Fresh plant. Mind you I just got off work at 5:30am from an overnight sift so I was basically taking pictures when I was half asleep. I really should have had a tripod, but it has been m.i.a. since I moved. I was paranoid somebody was going to come along and try to mug me for my camera when I was taking pictures, no such thing happened.

These were the two best that weren’t all fuzzy >.<

fortune cookie

I forgot I got this fortune cookie over a month ago until I found it in my purse a couple day ago. I remember I wanted to keep a hold of it. Out of all of the fortune cookie I’ve gotten over the years of eating Chinese food, this one seems to hold more value over all the others. I know this little cookies are prepackages with corny sayings, but I couldn’t help but think this one was different, I was meant to have this fortune. I am trying my best not to lose my ability to see beauty, but some days its hard.

Suffocation wallpaper

This is the current mood I’m having about my life right now. I was going for the minimal and motivational wallpapers that I’ve been seeing around everywhere. I made one for my desktop that says “stay motivated.” I’m not sure if its working.

Doodle Girl

I just made this little random doodle girl in 30 mins in illustrator. I got the inspiration from watching a cartoonist video online. I thought to myself, I can do that: draw a simple shape figure! I tryed it on paper real quick and then on the computer, the computer one came out better.

This isn’t particularly special, but at least its something creative for the day and I tried something new!

On a side note I’ve been thinking about something I could do for a project that would dead with art or just creativity. I’ve been playing with the idea of making zine, and making it available online for free. Or just now I thought about making a web comic (ie xkcd)out of these kind of figures. And I have even thought about the cliche project of taking a self portrait every day for a year. The first two I would have to seriously sit down and think through how I would execute my ideas and think about content/story ideas. While the 365 photos sounds easy to do, i just have to remember to do it.

I mostly want to do something because I’m afraid of losing my creative and artsy edge. I don’t want to lose who I am! I feel like loving art and making art is who I am. Without that then I would be just a girl floating by with no ambition, sure she went to college, sure she works in retail, but who is she really? I want to be a person who does things!

Here’s Meg’s Charm’s flowchart, hopefully I can get it all finished soon so there woun’t be any 404 or wrong content pages. There is a lot to do! Since I changed the layout all of the sizes of the images have changed so there’s resizing, making image links and putting up the rest of the content. It will be nice to finish the rest of the website!

Hello Internet

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I have started working on changing my blog around trying to make it more fresh and modern. Really what happened is that I updated my old blog theme and it screwed everything up. Then they wanted money to answer questions and to become a “gold member” and I said “Hell No” to that. So here I am change my blog all over again, but its for the better! I like this new look, especially the banner.

I have a lot to updating to do plus I have something cool I want to post, but I have class in about 30 mins. For now I’ll give you a photo taken at Tim’s grandma’s ranch place in Springville, Ca. I love this photo!

p.s. Since I changed the layout on my blog there are a few wonky things I need to work out.
