I was looking around Etsy last night and felt that I had to share some finds from Bugs and Monsters. This seller makes all kinds of things, but I like the mugs the most. The seller hand paints mugs from thrift stores with original designs. What a cool way to recycle and make art!
It has been a busy two weeks! Here are some photos of my adventures.
Maker Faire was awesome! so many things to see, almost needed two days to see it all. You can see all of the Maker Faire photos on Flicker, just follow this LINK. And yes, we saw Adam Savage!
Then I graduated. All of my family and some friends came up to see the ceremony. The ceremony its self was a bit long, but the key note speaker was pretty good. Even though it was on the morning the weather felt really hot! See more photos HERE!
Last but not least is Fanime. I didn’t take as many photos as I normally do, probably because I just wanted to enjoy the con. There were plenty of really good cosplayers. Tim got his wall scroll and I got m BAAU Down book making us quite happy! Check out just a tad more photos HERE.
If you haven’t watched Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’? yet, you must watch them now! They are funny, especially if you watch them all together consecutively. This one happens to be my personal favorite because of my love for Joss Whedon’s brilliant mind and making awesome tv/internet shows. On that note boooooo Fox for not continuing Dollhouse! I think I might boycott them for canceling Firefly and Dollhouse.
This is the movie for Fall that I want to see. I love the idea of a coming to age British girl in the 1960′s with one of my favorite actors, Peter Saggard comes to sweep her off her feet. The 16 year old girl develop a dilemma of whether or not to go to Oxford or going to Pairs to have fun. This movie looks like it will question what an education is, book smart versus street smart, especially for a girl trying to go to college in the 1960′s. She asks, What is out there for me after school?
I am highly anticipating this movie. I will do a full review of the film after I have watched it. Who knows I might change my mind and hate it after I see it, I hope not.
Recently Tim and I have been leaning in to teas. . . more Tim than I. He has always had an interested in them due to Kevin Rose on Digg. For our 5 year anniversary I went to Teavana in the mall and got him the perfect tea maker along with some flavored tea. A mix of Hazelnut Dolce rooibos tea and MartVana herbal tea, its a good mix but I recommend it on a cold rainy day. We got burned out the tea fast in the middle of summer. We liked the “perfect tea maker” even though the easy cleaning is not so easy.
We got up the courage to buy something at Lupica, also a lose tea store in the mall . We had been in many times but never got anything, we would just stand in aww at it all, with the occasional droll showing.
To say the least we can’t seem to stop drink tea. There is no such thing as coffee anymore. We even picked up an electrical water kettle and we go through 5 gallons of water so fast!
Our first purchases from Lupicia were:
Matcha Kirara Rice Tea – perfect breakfast tea, matcha give an extra boost, the rice give it nice favor, good hot or cold. A fav! We are already on our 3rd bag.
Strawberry – made with black tea, just recently found out it is much better cold than hot, not a favorite, but we’ll drink it
Golden Honey Dew- with rooibos (red tea), sweet , decaffeinated (evening tea). My personal favorite so far. Smells oh so good.
I just started following Sockington a cute and imaginative house cat twitter and I cant get enough. Now even people who are allergic to cats can follow on around. With posts like:
SQUIRREL IN YARD we both know this yard is not big enough for both of us so I will glare from this window until you make the right choice
well hello there hey stop looking OH A STARING CONTEST IS IT okay it’s on STARE STARE STARE STARE STARE STARE ha ha fatty has watery eyes
An here is the latest video from Sockington show that they have over a million followers on twitter:
“This is the Olympus PEN Story in stop motion. We shot 60.000 pictures, developed 9.600 prints and shot over 1.800 pictures again. No post production! Thanks to all the stop motion artists who inspired us. We hope you enjoy Free download of the music at http://olympus.eu/penstory/”
DUDE! Its like a still motion within a still motion! I liked that not only did they do a still video but I liked how the presented it. That has become a big part of art now a days. What/where is the venue/gallery? How are you going to show case it? Traditional or unconventional? Its all up to you and how you want to show your work and that makes it all more interesting.
This interesting site, Surviving the World has quirky and funny little tip, that might save your life one day. This was one of the tips from the other day, I thought it was just too cute! Normally the guy is just so serious, but here he’s actually smiling!
